OUR STORY
Devon Sachey, Founder of Pine Pastures LLC, served as a C-130 Flight Mechanic in the Marines for five years. After the military, she returned to her equestrian roots where she became Program Director of a therapeutic equestrian center in California. There she developed successful veteran-focused initiatives and a mental health program using equine-assisted therapy.
Devon’s lifelong passion for horses was shaped by her family’s rich equestrian history and remained a central theme throughout her life. She holds a B.S. in Marketing, an MBA in Change Management, and has been part of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH International) for over 12 years.
Since 2015, Devon has partnered with her horse, Dezano, using equine-assisted therapy to serve veterans. Her deep connection with horses influences her approach to life and is grounded in the belief that equine behavior provides powerful metaphors for relationships and effective leadership.
Life’s many detours eventually led Devon and her family to the home of Army Aviation; Fort Rucker, Alabama. There she lives on a quiet little farm with her husband, their teenage sons, and her in-laws. Together, they cultivated a homestead and what began as a simple relocation soon revealed a larger purpose.
Pine Pastures was born from Devon’s long-held dream to combine her love of horses with her desire to find an anchor in the veteran community. In 2024, Devon’s family experienced the profound loss of two friends: Brad Taylor, a devoted husband, father, firefighter, neighbor and friend; and Bruce Bennett, fellow Marine, confidant, cherished bonus-grandpa and friend. These losses left a deep void, but also sparked a renewed sense of purpose.
Motivated by grief and guided by gratitude, Devon launched Pine Pastures as a sanctuary for healing, fellowship, and service. Today, Pine Pastures stands as a living tribute to First Responders, veterans, and their families - a place to reconnect and rediscover purpose through the healing power of horses.
